We do, however, require that they be current on their vaccinations. All of our Spa services are by appointment. Dogs who want to come for Daycare or Boarding must be enrolled.
Q: What exactly is a cageless environment?
A: Exactly what is sounds like... dogs are not kept in kennels during the day. At night, the options are kennels, suites. Your dog never needs to be caged or crated while at Love My Dog Resort and Spa
Q: How do you make sure that the dogs get along?
A: If a dog is not going to get along with other dogs, then he/she cannot attend. We have special requirements that have to be met by all of our attendees and an interview process that they do all have to go through before their first session. The dogs are always supervised when they are playing together to ensure that everyone is safe.
Q: My dog loves other dogs and has never had a problem. Do I still need to bring him in for an interview?
A: Yes, we interview all of the dogs prior to their first visit to Love My Dog resort and Spa. We do this to ensure that all of the dogs who attend get along and are in a safe environment.
Q: Can I bring my dog in at anytime for his interview?
A: We conduct interviews by appointment, preferably between the hours of 10am and 3pm as we do not have a lot of traffic in and out of the building during that time. We want to be able to devote our time to you and answer any questions you have regarding our services. Before 10am and after 3:30, we are very busy with drop offs and pick ups.
Q: My dog doesn't like other dogs. Can he still come and be separated?
A: Unfortunately, we do not offer individual boarding. If your dog does not get along with other dogs and/or has shown aggression towards another dog, then our facility is not the one for you. We recommend touring any facility prior to scheduling boarding.
Q: How old does a dog have to be to attend?
A: All dogs must be at least 4 months old and spayed or neutered after 6 months.
Q: What about nap time?
A: In the middle of the day most of the dogs are laying down in the play taking group nap time but if your dog is not restng enough and you prefer us to give individual nap time, we can do so in one of our 6x4 suites.
Q: Do the dogs need to be vaccinated?
A: Yes, all of the dogs must be vaccinated for Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvo, Parainfluenza (DHLPP combo) and Bordetella (kennel cough vaccine) in addition to flea preventative, heartworm preventative, and in good health.
Q: My dog has not had a bordetella vaccine before. Can I get it right before my dog comes?
A: Dogs must wait at least 10 days before coming for their interview after their first Bordetella vaccine. This vaccine has an incubation period before becoming effective and protecting your dog.
Q: My dog has had the kennel cough (bordetella) vaccine and still came down with kennel cough at another facility. Do they really need it?
A: Yes. The vaccine is about 85% effective and is similar to the human flu vaccine in the fact that it protects us, but not from all strains of the virus. When dogs are stressed (like they are many times in a traditional kennel environment), their immune system can be compromised making it easier for them to come down with kennel cough. Most dogs have little to no stress while staying at Love My Dog resort and Spa.
Q: My dog doesn't have a problem with fleas so I do not use flea preventative. Is this okay?
A: We require that all dogs attending daycare be on year round flea preventative. While it is unlikely that your dog will get fleas while at daycare, there is always a possibility anytime your dog is exposed to other animals. If your dog is on flea preventative and is exposed to a dog with fleas, you won't have to worry about having a problem at home. Flea preventative is for your protection and we do require it.
Q: Where do the dogs who board sleep at night?
A: Each dog (or dog family) has their own individual sleeping quarters. We provide them with a 6'x4' space to rest their heads and bodies after a day of playing. You get to bring their bed from home, food, toys, favorite chews… whatever it is that will make your dog(s) more comfortable. We will provide the dishes, so don't worry about bringing those. We use only stainless steel and clean them between each feeding.
Q: Do you have security for my dogs?
A: YES! We have 24 hour video surveillance with an advanced alarm system,. Our store is enveloped with
a 12 hour fire protection material.
Q: Can I call and check on my dog while he's there?
A: Of course! And we encourage you to. We know that being apart is difficult for both of you. You may call and check in on your dog as often as you wish.
